Computers for Schools Foundation: Transfer Protocol
Donation Transfer Protocol

(Please note, this protocol is for donations of 10 computers or more. Please call us if you have a donation lot of 9 or less.)

  • 1. Equipment Preparation
    • Whenever possible segregate, inventory, palletize, shrink wrap and label equipment. Smaller quantities may be boxed.
    • Help us conserve our labor resources and keep our program costs down so we can put more of these resources into refurbishing the computers for our schools.

    2. Donation Summary

    • Forward inventory of donation to the appropriate facility for your area.
    3. Pickup Procedures
    • Once inventories are reviewed, the appropriate affiliate will coordinate pickup arrangements with donors.

    3. Donation Acknowledgment and Receipt

    • The affiliate provides donors with receipts and acknowledgment for all equipment donations. Individual contributors obtain receipts at the drop-off site.

    4. Sanitization/Reformatting of Hard Drives

    • The initial step in the testing and repair process is a low-level reformat of each hard drive designed to sanitize the hard drive and eliminate proprietary data, undocumented software and viruses. This reformat process is part of standard operating procedures.

Please Note: The Computers for Schools Foundation staff does not personally oversee the handling of the computers and is not responsible for the consequences of information or software which is not eliminated prior to donation to the program. Donors are encouraged to reformat hard drives whenever possible.

Thank you for your tax deductible donation!
